With heritage deep within New Zealand MTB culture, most riders can look back and wonder how they survived on rigid frames and cantilever brakes. One thing is for sure the stories that these bikes left behind are the stuff of legends, nows is the time to throw a leg over your retro machine and make a new story with like-minded riders all looking for a piece of the glory, heck, just surviving will be a good tale.

The 440 Classic Racing festival will be an all-out blast with a Kamakazy / Mount Downhill style race down the Gavel Gauntlet, classes for under 2010, 2000, and 1999, plus Coaster and Klunker will all be represented, thrashed and no doubt crashed.

We invite anyone with a retro steed to sign up, show up, and throw down, all for the sake of a good time and fun on two wheels at 440.

Sign-up is now live online and registration is mandatory before racing starts.

  • Two timed runs down the Gavel Gauntlet

  • One Mega Avalance

  • A group trail ride

  • Show & Shine

Your frame's age is what defines its class so register using the year of manufacture and corresponding category. The Coaster and Klunker class is open frame year.

  • 2010 & Earlier

  • 2000 & Earlier

  • 1990 & Earlier

  • Coaster (bike must have a coaster brake, any year frame)

  • Klunker (No Suspension, curved frame)

If you are unsure what class to enter? shoot me a msg and we can get you in the right spot for some race action.

440 Soft Tuning Sessions

Lewis & Co / 440 Soft Tuning Sessions.

Let Jimmy help you out with a great suspension set-up at a bike park that has everything from flow and jumps to steep and technical, 440 Mountain Bike Park in Auckland.

Sorting your set-up in one session is much better than changing a few things ride to ride / week to week getting lost in the settings.

Each rider will have a half-hour initial set-up period, after which they can go and test on the hill. Then we can adjust air spring and damper settings as required over the next few hours of riding.

After your soft tuning, Jimmy will send you an email with your new settings and any other info discussed.

Cost: $120

Riders will have to organise their own shuttle passes and sign in at 440 MTB Park.

NB: we will only be accepting bikes with air shocks for this season.
